The film is about an aged actress, Elizabeth Sparkle, who takes a new drug to make a younger version of herself. The plot and concept are excellently written, reminiscent of the best episodes of Black Mirror or The Twilight Zone. For a mid-budget horror release, the acting and special effects are top-notch. I would say this is tied with Alex Garland’s Civil War for the best film of the year. In the past few decades, the horror genre is one of the last places audiences can consistently go for original stories and high concept social commentary.
